MEET A MUTUAL – CODE OF CONDUCT

Meet a Mutual is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment at all of our events. This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees, participants, presenters, and guests at any Meet a Mutual event, regardless of format or location.

By attending, you agree to the following:

1. EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

All attendees are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect, kindness, and consideration

  • Communicate clearly and obtain consent in all interactions

  • Respect personal boundaries, including rejection or disinterest

  • Follow all instructions from event organizers and venue staff

  • Act in a way that contributes to a safe and inclusive environment

2. CONSENT & INTERACTIONS

  • Consent must be freely given, enthusiastic, and ongoing

  • “No,” hesitation, or discomfort must be respected immediately

  • Persistent or repeated attempts to engage after rejection are not allowed

  • Physical contact should only occur with clear mutual consent

3. PROHIBITED CONDUCT

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or unwanted attention

  • Unwanted sexual advances, comments, or physical contact

  • Behavior that makes others feel unsafe or uncomfortable

  • Discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or other protected characteristics

  • Aggressive, confrontational, or disruptive behavior

  • Stalking, following, or pressuring other attendees

  • Recording, photographing, or sharing others’ information without consent

  • Harassing or confronting organizers regarding event decisions or participation

4. ALCOHOL & VENUE CONDUCT

Many Meet a Mutual events take place at venues where alcohol is served. Attendees are expected to:

  • Drink responsibly

  • Comply with all venue rules and local laws

  • Maintain respectful behavior regardless of alcohol consumption

Intoxication is not an excuse for violating this Code of Conduct.

5. REPORTING CONCERNS

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please notify an event organizer as soon as possible.

We take all reports seriously and will handle them with discretion.

6. ENFORCEMENT

Meet a Mutual reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to take any action deemed appropriate, including:

  • Issuing warnings

  • Removing individuals from an event without refund

  • Denying entry to current or future events

  • Banning individuals from participation

This may be based on:

  • Behavior observed at events

  • Reports from attendees

  • Prior incidents or complaints

We are not obligated to provide warnings before taking action.

7. NO TOLERANCE FOR RETALIATION

Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern or participates in an investigation is strictly prohibited and will result in removal and potential bans.

8. OUR PRIORITY

Our priority is the safety, comfort, and experience of the community as a whole. We will always err on the side of protecting attendees.

By attending a Meet a Mutual event, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Failure to do so may result in removal or permanent exclusion from future events.
